  • 25 Lessons from my First 25 Years

    1. Love God and love people. Without love, we have nothing.
    2. Marry your best friend! Haley has made my life unimaginably better.
    3. Smile and laugh as much as you can, and spend time around people that make you laugh and smile.
    4. Most arguments aren’t worth it. Admit when you are wrong and offer a sincere apology.
    5. The grass is greener where you water it. Most of what we see from other people are highlight reel clips. Don’t get caught up in comparison.
  • Is courage really the absence of fear?

One of the ways that the dictionary defines the word courage is “the absence of fear.” I am not buying that for a second. Why? Because the Bible says “do not fear” about 70 times depending on the version you read. That is enough evidence for me to conclude that there is a fear problem rampant in our world.
  • Grit: Learning from the Apostle Paul

I have often heard people say that life is a marathon, not a sprint. Still, others have remarked that life is a series of sprints. Either way, that’s a lot of running, and a lot of strides. We will need a ton of endurance along the way.

The dictionary defines grit as “a firmness of character, or an indomitable spirit.”

Grit, endurance, an indomitable spirit, whatever you want to call it, it is a trait that few people possess. Yet, we can all grow in it!

  • When Less is Really More

Our American culture is obsessed with more, more, more! We always want one more day of vacation, another piece of cake, or more money in our bank account.

So why amid a comparison culture fueled by excess did I choose “LESS” as my word for 2022?

Looking back on 2021, I was hyper focused on striving to do more: serving in the church and community, exercising, reaching out to friends and family. While none of those things are negative, I ultimately became burnt out.

  • FINISH: Looking back at my Word for 2021

Whenever we choose a word for the year, set out to accomplish a big task, or create a large goal, there will always be failure along the way. At the end of the day, everyone fails. The difference between those who end up succeeding and those who don’t is not that they didn’t fail, but how they responded to the failure.
  • Thankful: Rhythms of Gratitude

Rhythms of gratitude can keep us grounded in the present moment, help us to reflect on all that we are thankful for in the past, and help us to look to the future with optimism!
  • ORIGINAL

The truth is that your worth comes from this fact: You have been created as one of one by a Creator who couldn’t conceive a monetary value high enough for your life, so He exchanged the life of His Son for yours.
  • You are God's child...Believe it!

Stop running the rat race. Get off the hamster wheel. Stop finding out information and start getting to know truth. Truth is found in a person, and His name is Jesus, and He loves you so much that He calls you His child. Here's the proof:

John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
